The year 2023 released some of the most remarkable horror movies of all time, such as Talk to Me, M3gan, The Exorcist: Believer, Thanksgiving, Scream VI, etc. Given their standard, 2024 can be predicted to be another milestone in horror movie history. There is buzz and evidence that certain extraordinary movies are about to be aired this year. So, let us look at each of them in brief detail.
1. Imaginary
The story starts with Jessica and her new family moving to her childhood home. There her youngest daughter, Alice, finds an old toy bear named Chauncey to play with. But then Jessica realizes that Alice’s behavior is changing day by day and that she needs to pay her more attention. By giving Alice more attention secretly, she gets to know that Chauncey is the reason behind her strange actions. Since then, it is her fight to save her kids and everybody else from the evil that has crept into her home that drives the story. The movie is produced by Jeff Wadlow and is supposed to be released on 8th March 2024. DeWanda Wise plays the role of Jessica while Alice is played by Pyper Braun.
2. Sting
Sting is directed by Kiah Roache-Turner and will be released on 12th April 2024. The movie has already caught the consideration of horror movie fans by the number of searches for the movie. This story is about a spider who was first caught and kept in a jar by Charlotte, a 12-year-old. They live in an apartment and she becomes curious about its growth rate. Soon she finds that it is turning out to be a monster who craves human blood. First, it was her neighbors that suffered death from this creature and then Charlotte’s own family and the rest of the associates, face the same challenge.
3. Abigail
Abigail is a beautiful young girl who gets kidnapped by a criminal gang. Her father being an underworld king, she was not afraid of these people at all at first. But, later, the gang discovers that Abigail is not just a kid, but a vampire. They all run for their lives when this bloodthirsty thing comes for them. The character Abigail is played by Alisha Weir and is a thrilling story even to watch with your family. Abigail is planned to be released on 19th April 2024. The editing and the directing of the film are by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin.
4. The Watchers
Ishana Shyamalan is the director of The Watchers and it is a story set in a jungle. There is a mysterious creature in the jungle that troubles a few people trapped there. A famous artist unexpectedly joins this group by losing her way. She too gets to the same problem so together they try to escape this place along with its monster. The Watchers will be released on 14th June 2024. The movie stars Dakota Fanning, Olwen Fouéré, and Georgina Campbell.
5. A Quiet Place: Day One
This movie is produced as another step in the movie series “A Quiet Place” by Michael Sarnoski. It is planned to be released on 29th June 2024 and will hit the top list of the year naturally, just like the rest of the series. The movie stars Joseph Quinn as “Eric”, Lupita Nyong’o as “Sammy”, Djimon Hounsou as the Island Man, Alex Wolff as “Reuben” and many more interesting ones in its cast. This is a continuation of the original story written by John Krasinski and Sarnoski you all are familiar with.
6. MaXXXine
MaXXXine is a movie by Ti West which will be released by 5th July of this year. It is another benchmark in the X-series; the movies “X” and “Pearl”. The main role Maxine is played by Mia Goth. There are other stars in the movie cast too; Elizabeth Debicki plays a film director. Then Michelle Monaghan and Bobby Cannavale as 2 LAPD detectives. Also, Giancarlo Esposito and Kevin Bacon are in the movie. Maxine was the only survivor of a massacre that shook the public. Right after that, she took steps to become a movie star in 1980 as she always dreamt of becoming one.
7. Alien: Romulus
The director Fede Álvarez will be releasing Alien: Romulus on 16th August 2024. The story is about the young generation coming across the most dangerous species of the entire universe. The movie falls into the genres of horror, fantasy, and sci-fi. Its buzz has already alerted the public and has stirred their curiosity. It stars Cailee Spaeny, Isabela Merced, Aileen Wu, Spike Fearn, Davis Jonsson, and Archie Renaux.
8. Speak No Evil
This movie is a remake of the Speak No Evil movie released in 2022 which was a Danish movie. It will be released by 13th September and is a production by James Watkins. The story is based on “Speak No Evil” by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup. The stars of the movie are McAvoy playing, Mackenzie Davis playing the role of “Louise”, and Scoot McNairy playing “Ben”.
9. Saw XI
Saw XI is the 11th release of the movie series “Saw”, with its tenth release in 2023. The same director Kevin Greutert is directing the film and is scheduled to be released on 27th September 2024. The movie is based on a jigsaw killer who returns from the Saw VI movie. This is another piece that the audience has been waiting for. The movie stars Tobin Bell as John Kramer, Shawnee Smith, and Synnøve Macody Lund.
10. Smile 2
The movie “Smile” directed by Parker Finn falls into the genres of supernatural, horror, and psychology. Smile 2, which is the second part of its original film released in 2022 will be released on 18th October 2024. The starring cast includes Naomi Scott as Quinn Parsons, Kyle Gallner as Joel along with Lukas Gage and Rosemarie DeWitt. The plot includes the psychological condition of a therapist’s patient who thinks she has supernatural powers and is suicidal. Smile 2 shall no wonder be a top hit of the year just like its Part 1.
